Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 19, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Verity (“Verity,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use our website and services (the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.
Information we collect
- Account information. Your email address and authentication credentials when you create an account or sign in.
- Business information you provide. The name, location, and other public details of the business you ask us to check, including anything you submit when confirming your business facts.
- Report data. The scan results we generate for you — scores, findings, and the AI assistant answers we collected on your behalf.
- Billing information. When you buy scan credits or subscribe, payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card details; we receive limited billing metadata (e.g. subscription status) from Stripe.
- Usage data. Basic technical information such as log data and device/browser information, used to operate and secure the Service.
- Product analytics. We use PostHog to understand how the Service is used — pages viewed, features used, and actions such as running a scan or starting a purchase. This uses cookies or similar storage and is associated with your account once you sign in.
Cookies and analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies for two purposes: to keep you signed in (a strictly necessary session cookie), and for product analytics through PostHog, which helps us see where people get stuck so we can improve the Service. Analytics data is tied to your account identifier and email once you sign in, and is not sold or used for advertising.
You can block analytics cookies through your browser settings or a tracking blocker without losing access to any part of the Service. See “Your rights” below for the choices available to you.
How we use information
- To run scans and generate your reports.
- To send you transactional email — magic sign-in links, password resets, and your scan reports.
- To process payments and manage subscriptions.
- To maintain, secure, and improve the Service.
- To comply with legal obligations.
Third-party AI providers
To check how AI assistants describe your business, we send prompts about your business to third-party AI providers, currently OpenAI (ChatGPT), Google (Gemini), and Perplexity. The prompts we send contain the business details needed to ask about your business; they are not used to identify you personally. Each provider processes that data under its own terms and privacy policy, over which we have no control.
How AI answers are generated
The content of your reports is derived from answers produced by third-party AI systems. These systems are probabilistic and non-deterministic: the same question can yield different answers at different times, and the answers may be incomplete, outdated, or incorrect. Because of this, a Verity report reflects what those systems said at a specific moment, not a verified or permanent fact about your business.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with service providers who help us operate the Service — including our AI providers, payment processor (Stripe), email delivery provider, hosting and database providers, our product-analytics provider (PostHog), and the business-lookup provider (Google Places) — and only as needed to provide the Service. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights and users.
Data retention
We retain your account and report data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at the address below. Some records may be retained where required for legal, accounting, or security purposes.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, or to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below.
Children
The Service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the updated policy.
